A Midwest Must-See: the St. Louis Ballpark Village

This August, America’s Pastime Tours will travel to St. Louis as part of our Midwest Tour to see the new and beautiful Busch Stadium. Located right next door, where the old Busch Stadium once stood, is the St. Louis Ballpark Village. It’s a combination of shopping mall, sports bar and Wrigley Rooftop with a touch of Hall of Fame thrown in. The $650 million project will be done in stages, with the first phase completed and open as of this year.

One of the three anchor stores is the Budweiser Brew House. This two-story venue offers gastropub cuisine (which includes my favorite, St. Louis-style ribs), over 100 beers on tap, live music, and a fantastic party deck that commands terrific views of the action across the street.

The second major attraction at the Ballpark Village is  Cardinals Nation. The three-story mecca for Cards fans consists of Cardinals Nation Restaurant, a two-level eatery; the 8,000 square foot Cardinals Hall of Fame & Museum; and the 300-seat Cardinals Nation AT&T Rooftop deck to watch the field across Clark Street.

PBR St. Louis is a high-end cowboy bar. It has to be high-end — it has a dress code! But it’s a great place for live country music and dancing, drink specials, and of course, bull riding.

inside ballpark villageFOX Sports Midwest has built a studio in the Ballpark Village, and broadcasts its Cardinal pregame and postgame shows during both home and away games. Also included here is a restaurant, a stage for concerts, and a 40-foot HD screen in the bar and lounge area, all underneath a 100-foot retractable roof. It is the ultimate “man cave!”

Since we spend three full days in St. Louis on our Midwest Tour, we have plenty of time to experience  this incredible baseball-inspired venue. In addition, our luxury hotel is just a few blocks away. If you check out the rest of our tour itinerary, you will see we also have planned a visit to the Gateway Arch, lunch at Mike Shannon’s, and a tour of Busch Stadium scheduled. And that’s just the beginning! Then we’re off the Chicago for four action-packed days.
